Who We Are
Kobi Furniture and Interior Designs (“we”, “us”) of Taifa Burkina, Accra, Ga East, Ghana, runs https://kobifurniture.com. We decide how and why your personal data is used, which makes us the data controller under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
This policy covers our website, online shop, order tracking, custom-order requests, and our delivery service. Our contact details are in section 14.
What We Collect and Why
We only collect what we need for the purposes below.
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name, email, phone number | To create your account, confirm and deliver your order, and contact you about it. |
| Delivery address and city | To deliver your furniture and work out delivery fees and dates. |
| Order details (items, prices, coupons, payment method and status) | To fulfil your order, handle returns and warranties, and keep the business and tax records the law requires. |
| Password | To protect your account. We store it only in scrambled (hashed) form and can never see it. |
| Location (see section 3) | To find your delivery point and show you where your delivery is. |
| Photos and measurements you send with a custom-order request | To prepare your quote and build your piece. |
| Product reviews (name you enter, email, rating, comment) | To show reviews to other shoppers. Your name, rating and comment are public; your email is not. |
| Messages you send us | To answer your questions and complaints. |
| Newsletter sign-up (email, phone if given) | To send the offers you asked for. |
| Technical data (device type, browser, internet address) | To run the site securely, block abuse and repeated wrong logins, and fix problems. |
Card and Mobile Money details are entered on Paystack’s secure payment page. We never see or store your full card number, PIN or Mobile Money PIN.
We use your data because you asked us to sell and deliver to you (to perform our contract with you), because the law requires certain records, to protect our business and customers from fraud, or because you gave consent (for example to marketing cookies or our newsletter).
Location Data
- • Your delivery point:If you share your location when tracking an order or saving an address, we store that GPS point so our driver can find you. Your browser always asks before sharing it, and you can type an address instead.
- • Live delivery tracking:While your order is on its way, our driver’s app records the driver’s position so you can follow the delivery. Only someone with your order number and phone number can see it.
- • How long:The driver’s route history is deleted automatically after 90 days. Your delivery point stays with the order record (see section 7).
Data Sent Outside Ghana
Some of the companies above (such as Hostinger, Meta, Google and Paystack) store or process data on servers outside Ghana. We only use established providers that protect personal data, and we send them only what they need for their service.
How Long We Keep It
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Orders, payments and invoices (including delivery address) | 6 years, for tax and accounting law |
| Your account | Until you ask us to close it |
| Driver route history (live tracking) | 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Anonymous visitor statistics | 13 months, then deleted automatically |
| Password reset codes | Valid 10 minutes, deleted within a day |
| Custom-order photos and messages | As long as needed for the quote or order, then with the order records |
| Newsletter sign-up | Until you unsubscribe |
How We Protect It
- • Encrypted connection:The whole site runs over HTTPS.
- • Scrambled passwords:Passwords and driver PINs are stored hashed, never in plain text.
- • Login protection:Accounts lock for a growing amount of time after repeated wrong passwords.
- • Limited access:Only authorised staff can see customer and order data.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and fix weaknesses quickly.
Your Rights
Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act you can:
- • See your data:Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- • Correct it:Update your details in your account, or ask us to fix them.
- • Delete it:Ask us to delete your account and data. We delete everything except records the law makes us keep (section 7).
- • Stop marketing:Tell us to stop promotional messages at any time (section 10).
- • Withdraw consent:Change your cookie choices or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
- • Object:Object to how we use your data.
- • Complain:Contact the Data Protection Commission of Ghana (dataprotection.org.gh) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data. We would appreciate the chance to fix it first.
